Seniors, applications are now open for our $3,000 Stelzer stipend

Stelzer Stipend (1)
Seniors, applications are now open for our $3,000 stipend for student media participants headed into media-related careers. More info and the application can be found here: https://vandymedia.org/senior-stipend/
The inaugural recipient of the Richard J. Stelzer Starter Stipend was Abigail Forsythe, ’23, pictured here with college friends Aleksander Lucy and Keegan Fong. Abigail, formerly a member of The Vanderbilt Review, now lives with Keegan in the Atlanta area, a move she said she could not have made without the stipend funding.
“Because of the WGA and SAG strikes that began shortly before and after graduation, respectively, I have only had the opportunity to pursue personal writing projects since May,” Forsythe said. “My focus has been on the original pilot I wrote during my final semester, as I’ve been reworking it to be submitted to writing contests and fellowships. The stipend funding allowed me to finance those submissions, and in the first couple of months after graduation, the funding gave me the cushion and time I needed to find other employment opportunities. With the strikes over now, I hope to very soon get involved in entertainment media full-time.”
The stipend was made possible by a generous gift from Richard J. Stelzer, A&S ’71, and is designed to provide VSC students with a bit of extra support as they move into their post-graduate life.
The deadline to apply is April 2.
