Scott Head, ’15, recently spoke with first-year student producers who work in our MyCommons.Life publication. During the video conference, Scott talked about his career path, advice for college media producers, and whatever the students asked him.

Scott now works as a television producer based in Los Angeles, where he said, “I produce guest segments, interviews, and games for talk shows, game shows, aftershows, and variety specials. Most recently, I produced over 300 celebrity guest segments for ‘The Talk,’ a daily live talk show on CBS.”

As an undergrad, Scott majored in Psychology, Cinema & Media Arts while working at Vanderbilt Television (VTV).
“Working alongside so many other talented students and advisers at VTV and across student media really gave me the courage to chase after my dream of working in entertainment after graduating,” he said.
“VTV provided me a unique sandbox to play around in, where I was able to try new ideas, learn a wide variety of skills, and meet some incredible people. I never would have thought that interviewing faculty and students for ‘VTV News’ would one day turn into a career of interviewing some of the celebrities I grew up watching in film and television.”
When he’s not working, Scott is a self-proclaimed puzzle nerd.
“I worked at an escape room when I first moved to LA, and I’ve played over 150 escape games since — I even competed in the world escape room championship (yes, that exists).”
Thank you, Scott, for giving back to VSC in support of our curious, creative, talented students. They really enjoyed talking with you!
