The Vanderbilt Hustler named Pacemaker finalist

The Vanderbilt Hustler Named 2023 Online Pacemaker Finalist

Congratulations to The Vanderbilt Hustler for being named a Pacemaker finalist! 🏆🏆

Associated Collegiate Press‘s Pacemaker awards recognize overall excellence and distinguish the top student media in the nation.

From ACP: “Congratulations on this significant achievement. The ACP Pacemaker is widely considered the most prestigious award in collegiate journalism.”

Rachael Perrotta, recent past editor in chief, said, “I’m proud of our staff for putting their all into their reporting. It’s an honor to be named a finalist for this award — a testament to the ground-up and impactful journalism being done at The Hustler.”

For the first time, in 2024, the Online Pacemaker is being presented in the spring. This shift allows the sites to be reviewed and winners announced during the school year while seniors are still on campus. The awards used to be announced in the fall.

Early in 2024, judging teams began reviewing the sites, focusing on content posted after June 16, 2023.

In addition to reviewing the overall sites, judges paid particular attention to the URLs of three content presentations suggested by editors on the contest entry form.

The judges are now regularly visiting the sites of the Pacemaker finalists before selecting the Pacemakers on March 1. Winners will be announced in March.
